Dear Public Affairs Directors:
There was a time when any able-bodied person would offer to assist a police officer who was in danger. For example, we’ve all seen videos of citizens pulling a police officer out of a burning squad car. But today, many bystanders simply take a video and don’t even call 911.
That’s dangerous for not only the officer, but for all of us.
We need a citizenry that’s willing to get involved by calling 911 first when an officer is in trouble. Saving lives should be our first concern. Only then should we take a video for evidence later.
We’ve produced the PSA available below to educate the public of how they should react when they see an officer confronted with danger. We have provided it to you in 15 and 30-versions, both recorded and as a scripted version.
