A new study presented at the recent School Nutrition Association’s annual conference shows that eliminating chocolate and other flavored milks from school cafeterias results in a dramatic drop in children's milk consumption -- and thus in the essential nutrients milk contains like calcium and vitamins a and d. The study of 58 schools across the country found that overall milk consumption dropped by an average of 35 percent when only white milk was offered – with some schools seeing more than a 50 percent decline.
