Reed Pence has been reporting on medicine since 1983, when he became host/producer of the Associated Press Radio Network's daily health feature. He later joined the PIA Radio Network as a producer of its programs Health Care and PIA Public Affairs. Since 1992, Pence has been host and lead producer of Radio Health Journal. He is winner of numerous national and regional media awards from groups such as the Chicago Headline Club/Society of Professional Journalists, the Board of Directors of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, MADD, and the National Hearing Conservation Association. |

Nancy Benson was one of the founding hosts of Radio Health Journal when the program debuted in 1992. A former news reporter/anchor for WMAQ radio in Chicago, she has won numerous awards for reporting. Since joining the faculty of the University of Illinois, where she is Associate Professor of Journalism, Benson has also become heavily involved in training journalists internationally. Previously, she worked in Rome as a public affairs consultant with the United Nations World Food Program. |

Shel Lustig began his career in informational radio programming at Chicago's NPR affiliate, WBEZ, where he was a longtime host and producer of news magazine programs. At the PIA Radio Network, he produced Health Care and PIA Public Affairs before co-founding MediaTracks Communications, producer of Radio Health Journal. Lustig has won awards from organizations as varied as the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Education Writers Association and the International Radio Festival of New York.
